We were sent this to review and tested it out with our toy tester who said, "It's cool how it magnified the grass shrimp so I could see it up close. I like the thermometer on it to tell me how cold or warm the water is. I think the pen part is handy write notes about the creature that I am studying." She examined both grass shrimp and a spearing fish.

Comments about Educational Insights Nancy B's Science Club® Discovery Lab Pens & Field Journal:

I received this sample from Educational Insights for review. Opinions are honest. No compensation was received.
If you have a child who is interested in nature, I encourage you to check out Discovery Lab Pens & Field Journal. It gives them the opportunity to explore plants, buts, water life and more. The tools included in the pens are magnifying glasses, thermometer strip, liquid vial, built-in dropper, tweezer, built-in ruler and a clear specimin vial with air holes.
My daughter immediately went outside and tracked down some ants to observe. First she used the magnifying glasses to get an up close look at their bodies, then she carefully got them to go into the vial and added a few pieces of grass so she could observe them in a contained environment.
She also got some good ideas from the field journal. She really took her research seriously, which my husband and I were very impressed with.
I appreciate that she likes this kit that is fun and educational at the same time.

My 9-year-old boy loves these pens. He loves to take them to the backyard with him to "do science" and write his observations in his nature journal. I love that he is able to catch bugs to stick in the pen, and use the tools while he is exploring outside.

We already own some of Nancy B's Science toys and I use toys loosely! These are more than mere toys, these are fun and engaging educational products that entice young girls to want to learn about science and more. In this kit you will get two pens, one pen features a collection vial, built-in tweezers, and ruler for specimen observation while the other features a liquid specimen vial with built-in dropper and thermometer.

We live in the country and this has provided hours of entertainment and learning. Discovering critters, leaves, twigs, etc. It truly makes learning fun for kids and engages them!

I really appreciate the way that Nancy B has made learning a bit more fun for the older kids. Younger kids are natural explorers, but it seems as kids get older they lose site of what is around them! This Discovery Lab Pens and Field Journal is a great way to get your kids to slow down and see what they can find around them.

We did receive this product for review, but our opinions are 100% our own!

This is a great kit for my kids and went perfect with the nature keeper. They were able to collect bugs and other objects and keep up with their observations. The kids actually used both kits together and it made for a great learning adventure outdoors. I did receive this for free in exchange for a honest review

Both of the children love this. They carry it everywhere they go. They use it inside and outside. They can even see things in the dark with the light up eyes. It has been with the children day and night since they received it. I would highly recommend it for any little "explorer"!

This product was very engaging for my daughters, ages 8 & 9. They were so excited when they came in the mail, they opened them right up and started reading to figure out how to use them, then went directly out side to start the experiment. As a parent, I felt these activities gave my daughters and I a common goal, a reason to spend quality time, all the while learning in the process. I highly recommend for children ages 7 - up. My children love them!
