My 6yr old daughter is a dog lover so she was super excited when I showed her this game. I had my almost 4 year old son play with us, and he was able to catch on to the game with a little help and practice. As we started playing, my daughter mentioned that the game was like "Go Fish". However she liked this game better because you get to "adopt" a dog when you collect all the doggie items in the speaking bubble that is on each doggie card. My son was able to figure out what item he should ask for with a little bit of guidance from me. The more we played, the less help he needed. This is the first game he's played where he has to use reasoning skills, so it was neat to see him think and figure things out. The only games he could play before were ones where he moves pieces on a game board or games like "hungry hungry hippo". With each round we played, my 6yr old daughter got better and realized she should pay attention to what other players are asking for. She was able to remember who asked for what and could compete for the dogs that she wanted to adopt. I love the quality of the pieces in this game. I have realized that the quality of the cardboard and packaging in the products from this company is very durable and withstands the handling from little kids better than most other games that we have. The game is small and easy to bring along when traveling and great at keeping the kids occupied. It's a great beginners game for young kids to learn how to take turns, use logic and reasoning skills in figuring out what items they need, and builds up to learning how to strategize by remembering what pieces other players have. I'd highly recommend it!

Overall, my children (4 and 6 year-old's) enjoyed the game and got the premise of the game pretty quickly, after the first "practice" game. The dogs are very cute, and we enjoyed reading the stories about the dogs. I liked how the children really had to pay close attention and make matches using pictures. The game pieces are simple and cute, and the small package makes for easy storage. I really wanted to like this game more, but there were a few things that could have made for a smoother game to play: a better way to make the 2-sided dog cards stand, a rule that limits how many times the same card can be exchanged in a row, and more information/background about the items that a dog might want/need (so children can learn about taking care of dogs in the process). My children love dogs, so they were thrilled to play a dog-themed game.

A fun and appropriate game for my 3 1/2 year old grandson. He learned what the word "adopt" means while matching the dog to it's belongings. It was already set up in the box so we just started to play, an easy to play game with lots of laughs. I would recommend this game to children ages 3-7

Comments about Educational Insights Diggity Dogs™ Game:

My son (5), niece (5), and nephew (8) all enjoyed the game. I had my nephew read the directions to the group. It was simple enough for everyone to know how to play the game. I thought it was a little silly to sound like a dog while asking for each item but the kids really got into it. They were having so much fun, laughing and being creative on sounding like a dog. I'm a teacher so I can't help but to look for games that help my son develop skills that will help him academically. This is a great game for practicing organization (organizing your cards that will help you know what you have and what you need), planning and making decisions (planning which set of cards you should go for), and paying attention (paying attention to who took which card so when it's your turn, you know who to ask). Whenever my niece and nephew come by our place, all three kids ask to play the game.

Comments about Educational Insights Diggity Dogs™ Game:

This was another fun game for my preschool students. Everyone enjoyed finding the matches for each dog, and learning about what it meant to adopt a living creature. My students thought the names of the dogs were silly too! This game helps to support matching skills, color recognition, sequence skills, ad of course taking turns. It was slightly difficult for the younger preschoolers to learn, having to find all matches was hard to wait for. Though overall, it was fun and everyone wanted to play it again and again. We all couldn't wait to say "Bow Wow!"

Comments about Educational Insights Diggity Dogs™ Game:

My daughters 5 and 8 enjoyed playing this game. The whole development of the game is adorable. There are 7 dogs to adopt. They all have a little bio you can read to your kids. Each player gets two cards and the remaining cards you can draw from. The goal of the game is to adopt the most dogs. In order to adopt a dog you need to get three items listed on the dog's card. Each dog needs 3 different items in order to be adopted for example: dog food, tennis ball and bone. When you get a certain combination then you can adopt that certain dog. You get those items by asking another player or drawing from the remaining cards.

My girls enjoyed trying to adopt a dog which made it more personal then just playing a game. My five year old needed a little assistance strategy wise in asking what items from the other players. She would ask random items until I showed her to look at her cards and look for which dog has the closest match with your card. Once we played a couple of times she got the hang of it. I would recommend this cute game to others. I just wished they created more dogs to adopt. This game also is good in having a discussion of what it means to adopt.

I received this game in exchange for my review. The opinions are my own.
