Ages 3-4

Preschoolers are theatrical and fact-finding by nature, so help them explore their curiosity by encouraging discovery. This is the perfect opportunity to help their little minds grow with educational toys right before they enter kindergarten. Here are some of the most important milestones for three and four-year-olds:

Three-year-olds are able to complete 3-4 piece puzzles, show affection for familiar friends and family, and sort objects by shape and color. They are also able to kick, throw, and catch a ball more easily.

Four-year-olds are able to use a fork and a spoon, go up and down stairs without help, express anger with words instead of actions, and recognize and remember several letters.

Fun Facts!

Three-year-olds and four-year-olds learn primarily through exploring, using all their senses. Here are some of our favorite facts about toddlers:

  • The typical three-year-old has a vocabulary of about 900 to 1,000 words!
  • The average four-year-old has a vocabulary of 1,500 to 1,600 words!
  • By age 3, a child’s brain reaches 80% growth!
  • A toddler’s brain is 2x as active their parents!

Tips to help your child learn more:

  • Three-year-olds are able to sort objects and complete small puzzles, so this is the perfect opportunity to provide them with a variety of brain games and puzzles. As the puzzles take less and less time, give them larger puzzles to challenge them and keep them learning.
  • Soon, these kiddos will start school! Now is the ideal time to help your little one increase their vocabulary by simply talking to them. Use vocabulary based games that will also spur imagination and build important skills for Kindergarten.
  • This is the perfect age to play and learn through arts and crafts. Paintings, drawing, and even singing silly songs, are a great way to build confidence and prepare for school.
  • Four-year-olds are on their way to becoming more independent. Let them help around the house by delegating simple tasks that they can complete and feel good about.
