Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog:

I bought this product for my daughter and she was so excited when she opened it, but when we tried to use it it wouldn't work. When I touch the pen to anything it only lights up green. It says that everything is right. We are trying to teach our daughter her letters and obviously this isn't going to work. She was so frustrated that she was in tears when we finally gave up. I feel like this product has the potential to be great if working properly but unfortunately I think we may have gotten a faulty one. If this is a problem that happens often then I feel bad for wasting my money and dissapointing my daughter.

Educational Insights Response: Frustrated Mom, you definitely have a faulty pen. Please look for an email from us offering to repair or replace your Ace.

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog:

My daughter loved using the Ace pen with the flashcards. She loved how it would bark and vibrate when she got the answers right. But then the pen stopped working - it would say she was wrong, no matter what dot she put the pen on. I changed the batteries, thinking it might not be working properly if the batteries were dying...but no luck. Even with new batteries, it still only responds that the answer is always wrong. Luckily we can still use the flash cards even without the pen - just not as much fun.

Educational Insights Response: Sounds like you've got a down doggie on your hands (well, we are in LA!). We'll happily replace the pen for you - please look for an email from us!

I love this product in conjunction with the Hot Dots Jr card sets! The children in my classroom love to use them! The only problem that I have had so far is that I don't have an individual pen for each child! My students have been using them in centers and for review! They don't even realize they are learning! I would definitely recommend this to other teachers!

Educational Insights Response: Thanks, Genia - what a glowing review!

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog:

First off the Hot Dots Jr. Ace Talking Teaching Dog is an adorable pen for young kids. My boys actually fight over who uses it. The pen takes 2 AAA batteries which are not included but otherwise it is ready to use. All you do is dab it on the black dot for whichever is the correct answer. It can be used on any of the Hot Dots products and there are tons of sets available from Pre-K and up. The pen also has volume control and can says encouraging phrases. His eyes also lights up red or green. The pen is quite as durable too which my boys have put it to the test!

Educational Insights Response: Thanks, Mom! Glad to hear Ace is still standing!

I love the idea of this product however, when the children press the right answer it doesn't always tell them they are correct and sometimes when it is the wrong answer it will say that it is correct.

Educational Insights Response: Mom2Four, it sounds like your Ace is defective! Please look for an email from us in your inbox...

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog:

I love the concept here, and I was so looking forward to giving it to my daughter, sure she would love it...... BUT, it doesn;t work properly! ACE glows green and barks and thinks every answer is right, even when it isn't. Is this how it is supposed to work? If so, that makes no sense to me!

Educational Insights Response: No, Brinda, that's definitely not how Ace works! He should glow RED and provide encouraging feedback when answers are incorrect and glow green and provide congratulatory feedback when answers are correct. Please look for an email from us offering a replacement!

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog:

I had a similar instrument when I was younger, so I was excited to purchase it for my 3 year old son. Unfortunately, when we got home from the store and got it all set up (inserted the batteries), I was saddened to see that all it did was praise for correct answers. The eyes only glow green and say good job for each dot touched.

I don't know if it is all of the "Ace" touch-pens that are defective, or if it is only my son's. I'd love to tell my friends about this product, but I don't want them to spend the money if it is all products. Please help.

Educational Insights Response: Struggling Mom, look for an email from us to help trouble shoot or replace your pen - we don't want to add to your struggles!

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog:

I purchased the product, and it worked fine; however, after using the product for 3 days for a period of 30 mins each day Ace the dog stopped working properly. It started saying that all the answers were correct. This product does not seem very durable for the age range it is advertised to be designed.

Educational Insights Response: Dave, a member of our customer service team will be contacting you shortly - this sounds like a malfunction!

Hot dots are a great product because of the audible feedback. I love the new younger version with hot dots jr. I think people will find them appealing, but the price point is a bit higher and may be a turn off.
