I have a couple of video game lovers in my house! I think they would literally play all day if I let them! My son is the worst. He would never leave the house if I let him. My daughter does enjoy a good balance of exercise and down time but I am always looking for new ways to get them moving! My five year old Paige likes to try to work out with me when I do DVD's at home and picks up my weights and mimics my moves. That's why I thought of her when I saw this Magic Moves Jammin' Gym! What a perfect thing for kids who like to copy everything their mommy does! What is it? This hand held weight looks just like a real weight as far as size and design goes; just made fun for kids! It has lights and sounds that are funner than any weights I've ever used! It looks like a dumbbell and has fun musical workouts for kids!DurabilityThis weight feels pretty solid but it's kind of light weight for a weight! It gets your kids moving and exercising but doesn't have much weight lifting to it; which is actually probably good for the little ones so they don't get hurt. The focus is more on being active and getting some cardio than building muscles. The Mom FactorAs a mom I appreciate that this toy encourages my kids to exercise, in a fun way! In this house we need all the help we can get. The best way to get kids up and moving is to get them having fun and this does the trick!Age RangeThis is rated for ages 4+; probably because of the ability to follow directions and the complexity of some of the moves. Not all kids younger than four would have the coordination needed but they can sure try!My KidsMy six year old Reed wanted to pretend he didn't like it or want to do it but he was all over it as soon as he saw Paige doing it. She loved it and wouldn't put it down! The only thing she didn't like was that there weren't two. She sees me working out with two so the reality factor isn't quite there in her mind.My ConclusionThe Magic Moves Jammin' Gym is a super fun way for kids to get exercise while thinking they are just having fun playing a game. This would make a great gift for the kids out there that need a little encouragement getting up and moving.

We were sent this game to play with and write a review. I am a Physical Therapist and promote physical activity so was excited to see how this toy would perform. My soon to be 4 year old daughter enjoys turning the Jammin' Gym on. She is able to follow the warm up and likes to "exercise" with Mom. She does need help figuring out what action is being asked to perform. Music is fun to move to, my 2 year old son also likes to dance along. Good way for kids to listen and follow instructions. It does take a long time to move on to the next command and I think the kids lose a little interest after doing the action for some time. You also have to push the "green button" to continue otherwise the Jammin' Gym just stops making music. I am hoping the more we play with it, the kids will catch on. It does make them move and get out some energy. Also, my husband's first response when we got it in the mail was that the packaging was so nice and easy to open. Finally, no scissors required so you don't accidently cut yourself with hard plastic.

Comments about What a whacky workout!:
We really liked the concept of this product. It appears very durable, the lights/colors are inviting, and the music/instruction is fun. My 4.5yr old boy just had a hard time focusing on it and lost interest really quickly. I think that we will revisit this toy in a year or so and see how it goes. I hope that it can keep his interest then! Really great idea if he will do it!

Great way to get the little ones moving!

About Me Therapist
This toy requires the user to have adequate auditory processing to follow the verbal commands; however, as a treating occupational therapist, I find it easy to accommodate that limitation by being the "visual" and demonstrating the moves as they are announced. My kids frequently pick this toy as their "warm up;" they love that it lights up and has fun music and sound effects. It's great for kiddos who have difficulty understanding the concept of time because at the end of the beat/sound-effect it indicates the end of the exercise and an introduction to a new move. Great gross motor activity!
Fun to do as a group/family

My kids ( age 2 & 4) love the music and the prompts to move around. Really fun to do together with friends and parents too. The exercises ladt a little long; I wish the prompts changed more quickly to keep my kids engaged, but it is still great to get my boys up and moving!

Great product and my son still enjoys using it!
Get the whole family moving!
The Jammin' Gym has given our son a great reason to move a little more than he did before—and us too. The easy to use weight-shaped device gives clear instructions for exercising in ways we didn't think of with our 4-year old boy. Though it looks like it could be heavy, it is light-weight, has only one switch and two buttons, and lights that blink while it is in operation. The switch controls the volume of the device which is still easily heard at its low setting in a quiet room. The most important thing about this is that it is beginning to teach about healthy workout skills. It includes a warmup, several exercises, then a dance party time which allows kids some recovery if they are winded. If they have lots of energy, the dance party time can be a great way to help get out excess energy to help refocus when exercises resume. The pictures show a few kids doing this together, which seems like the ideal use for this thing. While my son likes doing it with me, he would much rather do these exercises with a friend. If you want to have kids sit less while hanging out, this is a good place to start.

We received the jammin gym as a gift and thought it would be great for our 4 yr old. I tried it by myself first. It's easy to understand and a good workout. My son tried it and liked listening to it, but didn't want to follow along. Either he didn't understand that he was supposed follow the voice instructions or he didn't understand the directions. I think an older child who is used to following a gym teacher. I think it is a great teaching tool. We will keep trying it and do the workout with him to show him how it is done.
So much fun!

A good way to move for couch potatoes

Yeah! Magic Moves Jammin' Gym gives me a way to get my child to exercise and have fun at the same time. He will not follow my ideas of exercising such as "do jumping jacks" or the fun variation such as "soldier, star, soldier, star." I did not know what to do with him to get him to strengthen his core and muscles until now. With jammin gym he actually participates with its command. Much more fun than when I try to tell him to do something.I also like that it is a way to exercise indoors when you can't go out like today when its been pouring all day.
Kids thought is was magic
My 3 children (6 year old son and 5 year old twin daughters) love the Magic Moves Jammin Gym. My kids are high energy and can play with this toy for a straight hour. Thankfully the toy has an adjustable volume setting :-) Well made toy. The kids had fun, perfect activity for a rainy day, but also travels well.
Great for Gross Motor Skill
My kids (5 and 7 ) really enjoys exercising with Jammin' Gym. My daughter has gross motor skill and she does not usually like to move her body much. But It is such a fun way for them to get some exercise while having fun. It is great for developing attention skill as well.
