I purchased the product, and it worked fine; however, after using the product for 3 days for a period of 30 mins each day Ace the dog stopped working properly. It started saying that all the answers were correct. This product does not seem very durable for the age range it is advertised to be designed.

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog®:

We love Ace, we took this on the road with us this summer and he was perfect in the car. The kids love that his eyes light up when they are right and I love how easy he is for them to hold.

I also feel he helps teach them how to properly hold a pen so it's a bonus on that front as well.

I haven't had any problems with him and I feel his battery has lasted a long time. So happy with this purchase.

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog®:

I bought a box set as well as several decks of cards for my 3 year old. She loved doing the activity until it no longer worked. She used it over a period of several months, but at most only 5 different times. The Ace dog pen now only responds with "nope, incorrect!" every time regardless if her responses are correct/incorrect. We replaced both batteries in the pen, but that didn't fix the problem. It's frustrating because it was such a fun learning activity for her. Even though we have so many books and cards, I'm hesitant to buy another pen if it's just going to break after a few uses. I can only hope the company works out the bugs on this one because it is a good concept.

I'm now on my second pen...it worked for a few months, but now it says every answer is wrong. First pen was faulty from the get go. Great concept, but obviously there is a problem with the pens...

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog®:

I am surprised at the bad reviews. My 4 yo is greatly enjoying the pen. I've found a couple card sets on sale, which makes me happy because I do feel they are overpriced.

My older kids are very distracted when little bro gets to do hot dots during their lesson time. They want their own! I do wish the company still sold the refill/ make your own kit, as I would buy a bunch of those for making our own cards/ lapbooks for homeschooling. Bring that set back, please!!!

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog®:

My daughter got this from "Santa". It worked for almost 3 months. It now gives a wrong answer for every choice - even if she hits the right one. For example, if the question is, "what color is the bat?", she clicks "black", and ACE says "nope!" Very confusing!

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog®:

I bought this for my daughter and she loved it, great for on the go entertainment with hidden learning fun. Now my son is interested and I love anything that can take the place of a video game or app, but the dog says every answer is incorrect. I was going to buy him the kindergarten reading pack, but not sure about that now since I would also need to purchase a new dog pen. Otherwise, it's been great fun and we've even given them as gifts!

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog®:

I wish I'd done more research before purchasing this for my daughter. By reading the instruction manual, it's clear that ace is, "touchy" at best, and for something designed for toddlers, touchy doesn't cut it. The instruction manual includes a section for troubleshooting, indicating the manufacturer is aware of faulty design, so I'm disappointed that this item is so highly touted and priced when it clearly doesn't work. We've changed the batteries, cleaned the tip, and made sure we're touching the center of the dot (as stated in the instruction manual), and all of the answers are still wrong according to ace. Disappointed.

My mother bought this for my 3 year old. Ace only worked correctly for a few days. Now, no matter what answer you pick, ace says the answer is wrong. That makes it very difficult to explain to my son that his answer is correct.

My pen only worked for about 3 months with light use in a kindergarten classroom. It registers a wrong answer each time. I am disappointed that it stopped working so quickly.
