Ace does not work on big kids cards

Ace DOES NOT work on the "Big Kid" cards. I have tried at three to confirm this. It would be nice if the manufacturer would state this plainly somewhere.

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog®:

I received Ace the Talking, Teaching Dog for the purpose of this review. Regardless, all thoughts and opinions are purely my own.

My daughter loves using Ace to practice and develop both pre-reading skills and pre-math skills. I have been looking for something to interest her, since she is a reluctant learner. I also didn't want to resort to tablets and screen time. This has been a great way for my daughter to feel like she is playing an electronic game without electronics.

I have to remind her not just to push every dot to find the right answers, but I have been pleased by the learning she has done.

My older daughter is really too old for Ace, but since she loves dogs, she wants an Ace for her very own.

Overall, I am thankful to Ace for making learning fun for my reluctant learner.

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog®:

My son really loves his pen! I think they work fantastic. They allow my son to be an independent learner, since he is a very independent 5 year old. They work very well. He put the pen on the black dot of the answer he chose and it will turn green and give him positive reinforcement if he is correct! If he has the answer wrong it will turn red and tell him to try again.
He loves dogs so it makes him love it even more.

I am a HUGE fan of all the Hot Dots Jr and the Hot Dots collection. It has helped my son flourish with his school work and he is doing so well in school.

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog®:

I have several Ace pens because I have several Hot Dots Jr. kits. Some worked and some didn't. Luckily you can use one pen for all the books. This is also nice because then you don't have to find the ONE pen that works with each specific book. It is a bummer when the pen doesn't work when it is brand new though. If I didn't receive several Hot Dots Jr. packages and had to wait for a replacement pen to be sent to me I would be really bummed! For $20/kit you would assume your pen would work. Let's hope all my pens don't end up debarking.

I like how positive Ace is and how even though you may have the incorrect answer he is still kind about it. Actually my son thinks it is kind of funny to him him saye, "Nope!" or wimper.

My son is frustrated that he gets everything wrong. Even when he's right the pen tells him he's wrong. It's very confusing because it did actually work a few times. Very confused, frustrated, and disappointed little boy.

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog®:

We love Ace, we took this on the road with us this summer and he was perfect in the car. The kids love that his eyes light up when they are right and I love how easy he is for them to hold.

I also feel he helps teach them how to properly hold a pen so it's a bonus on that front as well.

I haven't had any problems with him and I feel his battery has lasted a long time. So happy with this purchase.

Comments about Hot Dots® Jr. "Ace" - the Talking, Teaching Dog®:

I bought a box set as well as several decks of cards for my 3 year old. She loved doing the activity until it no longer worked. She used it over a period of several months, but at most only 5 different times. The Ace dog pen now only responds with "nope, incorrect!" every time regardless if her responses are correct/incorrect. We replaced both batteries in the pen, but that didn't fix the problem. It's frustrating because it was such a fun learning activity for her. Even though we have so many books and cards, I'm hesitant to buy another pen if it's just going to break after a few uses. I can only hope the company works out the bugs on this one because it is a good concept.

I'm now on my second pen...it worked for a few months, but now it says every answer is wrong. First pen was faulty from the get go. Great concept, but obviously there is a problem with the pens...

I am surprised at the bad reviews. My 4 yo is greatly enjoying the pen. I've found a couple card sets on sale, which makes me happy because I do feel they are overpriced.

My older kids are very distracted when little bro gets to do hot dots during their lesson time. They want their own! I do wish the company still sold the refill/ make your own kit, as I would buy a bunch of those for making our own cards/ lapbooks for homeschooling. Bring that set back, please!!!
