Comments about Hot Dots® Lets Master Grade-1 Math:

My son loves playing with the Hot Dots Jr. sets. This Hot Dots 1st grade math is going to be so great for him in the near future. After looking through the book I know what kinds are things are coming up and can watch for him to be ready for this book in case it is before 1st grade. I want my child to be an accelerated learner and with the help of Hot Dots I know he can be. This pen is a great motivational tool. Lights and sound good off when an answer is chosen. This will help my child be able to do the books on his own in the car or at home. Moving from one Hot Dots book to the next is going to be so helpful in my child's education.

Hot Dots Let's Master Math is such a fun and easy game for kids to play both independently and with a small group. The packaging is easy to keep organized and both the pen and book fit back into the original box. As a classroom teacher it is important that the kids can access the materials by themselves and with this product there is nothing to worry about. The book covers many reading skills and the directions are also easy to understand and read, so my students can be even more independent! If you are looking for a gift or a classroom resources this would be perfect!

Comments about Hot Dots® Lets Master Grade-1 Math:

Another great set!. We really love the Hot Dots collection. We started with the Hot Dots Jr Master Kindergarten Math and now are moving on to this grade 1 math set. I thought it would be a great continuation to what he is learning. We thought we would help him get ready for the 1st grade. The set includes a Hot Dots pen and 2 interactive sturdy spiral-bound books. They have about 100 lessons between the 2 fifty page books. This set is harder for my son than the Kindergarten set but a challenge is always good.
My son just loves learning with these sets, because he thinks it fun.So it is a win win for both of us.
It works very simply. There are black dots next to each question, my son then picks and answer and places the Hot Dots pen on his choice. If he is right the pen turns green and gives him positive reinforcement. When he gets the answer wrong the pen turns red and tells him to try again. I really love as a mom that i don't have to stand over and watch him. This set gives him a sense of freedom. Hot Dots is totally worth every cent!

Comments about Hot Dots® Lets Master Grade-1 Math:

I received Hot Dots Let's Master Grade 1 Math free for review. All opinions are my own.

Hot Dots Let's Master Grade 1 Math includes an interactive talking Hot Dots Pen and two Hot Dots workbooks. The workbooks include questions, and multiple choice answers with a black dot next to each possible response. Your child will use the Hot Dots pen to select an answer by vertically pressing down on one of the dots. If the answer is correct a positive reinforcement will be heard and the pen will light up green. If the answer is wrong, a try again message will sound and the pen will light up red. The Grade 1 Math books cover topics such as patterns, time, shapes, measurements, math facts, money and place value.

My oldest is in 1st grade and this is a great supplemental math tool for her. It covers many of the topics we are currently teaching her and gives her great practice. It is, obviously, harder than the kindergarten book, but the difficulty is the right step up giving her the challenge and confidence she needs to keep her motivated to learn new things. Because she's learning these concepts I have to stay closer to her to help explain how to do the math, while in the lower grade level books she was just fine doing it all herself. She's an independent learner, so having the Hot Dots pen correct her instead of me helps her maintain that independence she wants, while having me close by to ask questions lets her know she can do it on her own with a little support. I love that the books present the same concepts in different ways to help kids understand there is more than one method to solve a problem and to help them pick the way that works best for them.

Overall this is a great supplemental kit for teaching first grade age kids math. The pages are durable and made to last through repeated use. These books can be used as a teaching tool and as a review for previous concepts to reinforce those ideas as needed. I recommend this kit to anyone with a first grade aged child. It's a great introduction to math for them.

My niece liked her time with Hot Dots Let's Master 1st Grade Math. She spent about a half hour checking out the book and working on the problems. It touched on all different aspects of math preparing her for later. Once in a while I would see her get one wrong just to see her pen react.

Comments about Hot Dots® Lets Master Grade-1 Math:

After Kindergarten Math I was really wary of attempting First grade with my son. I know he is more verse in math now, but the math seems more challenging to me. Luckily the puzzles remained similar just on a higher level, so he knew what he was doing and could puzzle his way through. I guess that's the point, huh? I was glad these books introduced puzzles such as Analog v. Digital time, and the different kinds of currency, it makes me really excited to see what the second grade books are going to do. It's been great for me as a parent to do this with him. He gets home from school and clams up about what he has learned, at least when he does this with me I get a glimpse of what he has been doing in school, and it even prompts a story or two about his day. The math books aren't his favorite but he loves doing puzzles and so this is a great way to explore math with him.

I received the Hot Dots Let's Master 1st Grade Math kit for review purposes. My daughter is in first grade, and besides art, math is her favorite subject. After going through this set, I would say that the skill level in this booklet is right on par with the math they are learning at school. My daughter is a bit ahead of the curve on math though, so we'll be using the second grade math with her more as she already knows most of the concepts in this set very well. Reading time though is one skill set we'll be using this set for though! Overall, I think it's the perfect level for most first graders.

My son has enjoyed playing with this set. He thinks it's a fun toy, but he's also practicing his math along the way. It starts off easy but gets more difficult as you progress through the books. It comes with the interactive talking pen and two 50 page math workbooks. There are one or two math problems on each page. The concepts included are place value, addition, subtraction, patterns, basic measurements, telling time, money, shapes, and reading simple data/charts. I appreciate the telling time and money pages the most as those are what we are currently learning. I will definitely look into the reading and other sets to go along with this now that I see how it works. The only negative thing is that my son often wanted to touch the actual answer on the page rather than the dot next to answer. This resulted in him getting a "wrong" answer and being confused at first, but after a few reminders he remembered to press the dot next to the answer instead. I received this item in order to review it, but all opinions are my own.
