Comments about GeoSafari® Motorized Solar System:
This product is absolutely perfect for teaching children about the solar system! I love how it actually orbits around the sun to show how the solar system works! This tool is great for visual learners in the classroom or at home!

Nice model of the solar system
from Mobile, Alabama USA
I received this product in exchange for a review but opinions are my own.My children really enjoy watching the planets move around the sun. It makes a great visual aid when teaching them about the planets. When I was learning, all I had was flat pictures. ;)No, the planets do not move at different speeds but to have a product with such precise movement and timing would be much more expensive. The only problem we have experienced with the Educational Insights Geosafari Motorized Solar System is that the top of our sun falls off easily. I am thankful for the extra lightbulb and understand the need to have the top of the sun removable in order to change the lightbulb... I just wish it was hinged or snapped on better.
Great learning tool!

I received this Solar System to review from Educational Insights. My youngest daughter is obsessed with just about everything in the sky. Before receiving this product she had a small push button light for her room that would project stars on the ceiling and we were both excited when we got the Solar System. Not only is it functional, but it is educational as well. I can tell her what the planets are and how they move around the sun and the best part is that she can also see it in motion with this! You can have the sun light up and just be yellow, or you can switch the top and it projects constellations on the ceiling which in my opinion is much better than just stars. She loves watching the planets circle around and loves pointing out the constellations on the ceiling. We have so much fun with this and I think it's great for all kids!
Excellent learning activity!

I received the Geosafari Motorized Solar System for free in order to give a honest review. All opinions are 100% my own. My daughter is only 3 years old and is already interested in the solar system and so I knew she would adore this educational toy. This was very simple to put together. She loves it and doesn't mind to much but the motor is a little noisy. Tolerable, but noisy. I recommend purchasing the AC adaptor with this. As much as it engages children and they want to play with it for so long, it runs through batteries quickly. It also has a Stardome that coverts the unit into a planetarium which I think is awesome, although my daughter does not really understand it yet. I think its a great feature for when she gets a little older and cares to learn about the stars more. It does have small parts, so you must keep an eye on any younger children but I would recommend this for children under 8 as well, just because it is very educational and fun for younger kids to learn on as well.

We loved it!

My 11 year old opened this and he loved it. We put it together very easily. The instructions were easy to follow and each planet is labeled as to the instructions for the order you place them. This was fun to use at home and would be a great item to add to anyone homeschooling and learning about the solar system. The only thing is that it was to big to sit on his dresser so we had to leave it on the floor which was no problem.

good example of planets

Solar system in motion.First off, the instructions were very well done . My 9 yr old son put this together in less then 15 min by himself . One thing he did notice was the machine itself is rather loud while it rotates. Also the light bulb is not as bright as it could.be, it's hard to see the constellations on the wall. Also it was a little hard to distinguish between which planets were which. He thought it was a very cool model. But has those ideas to pass on.
Fun Product. Awesome Customer Service!
About Me Educator, Parent
My son loves the GeoSafari Morotized Solar System. He gets it out now and then to put it together and use it. I have also brought it to our preschool class to show them how the planets orbit the sun. Granted that they don't move in a perfect circle in real life but they get the idea that they move around. The planets themselves do not rotate on the machine while they orbit but you can educate on that fact. The replacement light bulbs are hard to find. The planets will still orbit the sun, it's just the sun that won't shine if the bulb is burnt out. Still useable. Jenna in customer service was so helpful in taking care of our questions and equipment inquiries!
Disappointed Kid on Christmas
from Thousand Oaks, CA
About Me Parent
We thought this product would make for a good christmas gift for our son but after assembling this morning and making sure that the batteries & adaptor were working properly, we have come to the conclusion that one of the bulbs included was already burned out and that the motor simply does not work at all. Needless to say, he was very disappointed after realizing that the product was broken on arrival.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: This review does NOT brighten our day! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org so we can get your solar system spinning or replace it with one that does.
Didnt keep real time orbit around sun

Beside the motor that is obviously a piece of trash from previous comments and my own motor failing. The 2 other gripes I have is that it could at least come with a power adapter for when the motor breaks down the planetarium will light up, instead of batteries, would lighten the sting of buying a poorly made motor. The last grip I have is where is the southern hemisphere dome for the planetarium part of it, would love to see those stars also. Just a little more and you guys got a hit!
Merchant response: Oh Johnny B, we're so sorry you're disappointed. It's a balancing act to create a product that gets kids excited about the solar system but doesn't cost an arm and a leg. We went with a separately available AC adapter (EI-8702) and a single speed orbit, rather than a real-time orbit, to keep the price down, but a real-time orbit is definitely on our wish list, too!
