GeoSafari® Motorized Solar System

Ages 8+
Grades 1 and up. The "sun" shines onto the nine planets as they orbit around it. The central tower and planetary support rods are black so that they "disappear" in a darkened room for a spectacular effect! Replace the solar dome with the star dome includeto create a spectacular planetarium sky complete with major constellation names. In addition the base features a special 1000-hour light bulb and planetary longitude marks so the planets can be set up to their correct positions. The Solar System model is powered either by four C batteries (not included) or by an optional AC adapter (not included). EI-8702 AC Adapter $12.99

Comments about GeoSafari® Motorized Solar System:

My son loves the GeoSafari Morotized Solar System. He gets it out now and then to put it together and use it. I have also brought it to our preschool class to show them how the planets orbit the sun. Granted that they don't move in a perfect circle in real life but they get the idea that they move around. The planets themselves do not rotate on the machine while they orbit but you can educate on that fact. The replacement light bulbs are hard to find. The planets will still orbit the sun, it's just the sun that won't shine if the bulb is burnt out. Still useable. Jenna in customer service was so helpful in taking care of our questions and equipment inquiries!

Comments about GeoSafari® Motorized Solar System:

We thought this product would make for a good christmas gift for our son but after assembling this morning and making sure that the batteries & adaptor were working properly, we have come to the conclusion that one of the bulbs included was already burned out and that the motor simply does not work at all. Needless to say, he was very disappointed after realizing that the product was broken on arrival.

Bought this for my boyfriend at NASA. Expensive! Does not work properly because the motor drags and the stars projected to the ceiling are blurry. If it is supposed to be used in a classroom then the room must be in a closet. Very disappointed with purchase.

Comments about GeoSafari® Motorized Solar System:

Beside the motor that is obviously a piece of trash from previous comments and my own motor failing. The 2 other gripes I have is that it could at least come with a power adapter for when the motor breaks down the planetarium will light up, instead of batteries, would lighten the sting of buying a poorly made motor. The last grip I have is where is the southern hemisphere dome for the planetarium part of it, would love to see those stars also. Just a little more and you guys got a hit!

Just set this up for my 4th grade classroom. Not too difficult to set up but when I turned the motor on it didn't work--not even a buzz. How sad. I'm just thankful that I was not doing it with my students as I would have hated to see their sad faces.

Comments about GeoSafari® Motorized Solar System:

I was excited when I bought the product for my son as it looked very educational and as he is being taught about planets in school it was an ideal gift choice this Christmas. I was unable to remove the very poor quality screw in the battery compartment and therefore my son never got to use the present on Christmas morning/afternoon/evening. I will now have to travel back into town and all the bustle to get a refund. Please please please get a different factory to manufacture the toys. China may be cheapest but as I found out its not always best! Thank God that there was no lead paint on the toy!!!!!!!!!!!!
